Virtual MIDI Keyboard
Here's a random tip from a "random Buzz user". Putting it on this blog so I can reference it at a future date.
Polac Vst Loader - virtual midi keyboard ? load any vsti, open GUI, press f4, look for enable virtual keyboard, you can set this by default too - play notes on your keyboard, page up/down will act like * and / - does it record the notes into a pattern too ? yeah, you can define the quantization too, like ft2 - make sure you use version 1.1 not 1.0 - noolout

How to make a siren (!)
"Any old metal detector from the flea market and 3 bucks for the 9 volt it needs can get you some pretty good siren type effects pumped right through the 3/4 inch headphone jack with volume/level control. Most have a built in speaker as well. Move a metallic object around under the detector for variations. Use different types of metal to bug out further."

I always draw pictures like this before a jam when everyone expects me to record the jam for posterity and make a demo from it and release it and play bass...
